TL:DR

This droposal mints the UGANDA CONNECTION video teaser through the Gnars wallet and transfers 1,000 USDC to enable Dino to complete the full-length film in time for next month's crucial events.

The film aims to further promote Gnars' principles to a community, amplifying our message and empowering those in Kampala who need tools to put their ideas into action. Let's strengthen the voices of our representatives in Kampala and make a lasting impact!

History

  • Hello, my name is Renan Carvalho, better known as “Dino”, I'm a filmmaker and skateboarder, and I'm part of the gnars community. I was invited by podmedia to direct, film and edit a mini-documentary about our journey with skateboarding in Uganda and the feasibility of building a skate park in the country.

  • I spent 17 days in Uganda, dedicating 15 days to intense filming. During this time, we conducted interviews with leaders of six organizations, returning frequently to the same locations to capture the essence of each one. We also documented moments and landscapes that represent Uganda in an authentic way, always with a positive and independent perspective. In addition, we filmed tricks by local skateboarders and Brazilian skateboarder Garcia, who also went to Uganda to donate skateboarding materials to local communities. This opportunity came about because of the proposal

  • Fund travel costs to deliver $6,000 in donated skateboarding materials to skateboarding collectives in Uganda, ensuring that no funds are spent on the donations.

  • Context: Proposal 37

  • The documentary reflects Gnars' core values, promoting cultural exchange and highlighting skateboarding as a powerful tool for social transformation. Uganda's skateboarders are already leading this change, and their stories have the power to inspire the world. This further strengthens the skateboarding scene in Africa, where the construction of a skate park is an urgent necessity.

Goals

  • The short film teaser will be released as an NFT on the Zora platform, with revenue split between Gnars and the creators. It will also be shared on the Gnars Warpcast and on YouTube, Instagram.

  • Amplify Gnars' ideology, creating an impactful connection to the vibrant identities of both Gnars and Nouns.

  • The official launch will take place at DevCon in Thailand, marking the beginning of the film's journey.

  • Following this, the short film will have special screenings in major urban centers such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, connecting Brazilian audiences to the initiative.

  • In addition, there will be a screening in Kampala, Uganda, bringing together the local skateboarding community.

  • These international screenings reinforce the project's global reach and its commitment to fostering skateboarding culture in different parts of the world.

Strategy/actions:

  • Special invitation to everyone to get involved with storytelling on decentralized platforms, sharing ideas and connecting with many communities around the world. Let's amplify these stories together. Thank you in advance!
  • The screenings will also support our efforts by promoting the culture and the film through public engagement and discussions during the premieres.

  • Let's share the teaser and increase its value with NFTs. By using blockchain, we can create unique digital assets that enhance engagement and offer true ownership.
